One of many things I love about running: the lessons, metaphors, and confidence it gives me for the rest of my life. Today at about two-thirds of the way through my long run, I looked up to see this and thought, “This is how to think about my book project. I’m about two-thirds done and I still have a ways to go, but it’s pretty flat for the next little while and look at all the green lights up ahead!”
One of the green lights this week was an email from a colleague (who also happens to be a runner) with encouragement for writing while Associate Dean-ing. I’ve had a hard time fitting writing in for the last couple of weeks so her email came at just the right time. I am redoubling my efforts this week to find 30 minutes a day and looking forward to the upcoming 14-day Writing Challenge with the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity. Logging words is a lot like logging miles.
